It’s been a challenging year for everyone. We started this journey in late 2019 thinking about our next venture in the food service industry. After having great success with our OffBeat Eatz operations and along with a limited operation with our Bowled Up food truck. We decided a venture in an community outside of the hustle and bustle of Houston proper, would be our preference. A place where we would interact more with the community.

We decided on a location in Richmond, on the East side of Pecan Grove. Still not quite sure about how life in the community would be, we ventured around and toured the restaurants to get our own experiences. We wanted a concept where it’s great food from our families, without the fast pace, so a meal and companionship was the focus.

When early 2020 started, it was very unpredictable. We decided to put things on hold until we had a better understanding of the pandemic and how the public would treat a new business. After a few months, we had additional discussions with the landlord and made some plans.

Today, we’re reflecting back on a year of serving the Richmond area and finally realized that we may not be successful. Behind Mr. Gator are Gerald and Victor, along with Bobby, hopefully, we’ve managed to meet most of our customers, made a tough choice to close down. It’s been 18 months of challenges, trying to make good predictions, and in the end, just too much to continue and have a good quality of life. Our last day of service was Sunday, August 29, 2021. We’ve had an emotional day with our staff on Monday as we say goodbye and hello to new journeys ahead.

We’re not totally giving up. We’ll focus our energy back on our food truck operations, getting our lives back into order, and taking time to slow down a bit.

We’re sad to geaux, though we’re great to have had the experience and meet great people in the Richmond area. Who knows where Mr. Gator will end up. See you later alligator!

Thank You For Your Support!

We’re thankful for the support from everyone in the area! We’re not at a sustainable level yet and we need your support to continue the restaurant operations. This has been a tough year, especially for small businesses. We’re here for dine-in, call in, online ordering for curbside pick up, and soon a delivery option.

We’re at the point where we will have to make a decision to keep operating or close. We would rather stay open and serve the great community that has shown a lot of support. We need your continued support, and help spreading the word so we can continue to be a part of the community into 2021 and beyond.

What else is going on? We will continue to operate our food truck OffBeat Eatz, you’ll see the big purple food truck visiting the area often, at great places such as the Pecan Grove Farmers Market and Richmond Food Truck Fridays. We also visit area neighborhood food truck events, such as Harvest Green Food Truck Fridays.

We want to thank the Richmond community for all of the great support, feedback, encouragement, and more since we opened in late August! We even want to thank the not so good comments and feedback. We know we can’t be 100% all of the time, though we’re working hard and appreciate the feedback so we can improve! We are thankful for everyone that enters our doors!

To pay it forward for the Thanksgiving season, we are preparing five (5) family meals (turkey, sides, dessert – serves 5-7 people) for those that you want to nominate. It can be a family or group of people that aren’t having a great year, a bit down on in the spirits, or someone you feel that could use a meal this Thanksgiving season.

Please submit their name, email, and reason for paying it forward. Also include your information in case we need to ask further questions or need help with contacting the recipient. Please include a story for us to review and a way to contact them, especially a phone number. Information will be confidential and we will make an announcement around November 15th.

If you’re not comfortable with submitting your information online, feel free to email us at, write it down or stop by and speak with a manager, Victor, or Gerald.
